    It sounds as though you are continuing to increase to much maybe. Increasing is where you are putting two stitches in one stitch so the cap will expand and get larger.     What great tutorial video! I made this hat for my 5 year old daughter. You have re inspired my lost hobby of crocheting. I had lost interest when I had trouble with making the chain four ring…so thanks for introducing me to the magic loop it truly is magical. lol!

    I would use …
    I would use something soft like Caron or the Red Heart soft yarn. Both are acrylic. I like the 4-ply better than the sport weight which takes longer to work up. You may find that you like the baby yarn better.
